A Window With No View

A Window Without a View
Everyone loves a big beautiful window in the room. What’s there not to love? In most cases, windows add light and a wonderful view to the outdoors, but for some, the view is a little less than panoramic. If you’ve got a window that overlooks a neighbors wall , then it’s probably more trouble than terrific! If your house has one of those windows that don’t offer much, then you can try out these few tips to improve what you see.

If the view of the entire window is unattractive, then you can use some inexpensive frosting for the glass. You can find the film in the wallpaper section of most stores. Simply cut it to size and cover the entire space. You can also experiment with stained glass, adding a bit of color. You’ll still allow the light to come in, without having to see what’s really outside!

If you’re only unhappy with part of the view, then use blinds as an option. You can order them in different styles too! Try Venetian or vertical blinds, since in addition to height, they can also be adjusted to different degrees of opening.

If the trouble with your window is that it’s allowing the neighbors to see in, taking away from your privacy, then you can look into tinting. Your local window supplier can tell you how to keep your home out of prying eyes, yet still allowing the sun to shine in!

If the problem with your window is not enough light, then the solution isn’t too hard. Make sure you aren’t blocking the sun by a tree or bushes. Sometimes a little pruning in the garden can be the solution. But for those hard angled windows that aren’t light friendly, then the solution lies with putting up a mirror on the opposite wall. It will reflect the light and instantly brighten up the room.

If you’re looking to be more adventurous, then add a window to your home by opening a space that’s higher than normal. You’ll treat yourself to a view of the trees, and avoid looking right into a brick wall!

A window with no view doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t experiment. You can always try out new ideas to make the most of the window you already have. Don’t just shut the blinds on this one!
