Close to the heart of Mississauga, Meadowvale offers a warm suburban neighborhood to its residents. Just northeast of city centre, it is a well established area, complete with a shopping plaza of its own, as well as a number of great schools, parks and quick access to the highway. Originally established around 1820 by Irish settlers from New York, Meadowvale evolved into a popular gathering place for artists during the late 19th century. People were attracted to its small-town charm, and lived here to immerse themselves in culture and inspiration. In order to preserve the essence of the 19th-century village, in 1980 Meadowvale became the first heritage conservation district in Ontario, safeguarding the incredibly rich background of the area.
